Reigning Days Live Review, OLD BLUE LAST, Dec 17
"One of the UK's fastest rising bands gives us a taste of next year's full length.
Having landed themselves a deal with the newly-launched Marshall Records back in March, and currently putting the finishing touches to their full-length debut, Devonshire trio Reigning Days are gearing up for the biggest year of their career so far. Luckily the band showcasing new tunes tonight look and sound like they are more than ready to conquer the world, hammering out the kind of chorusses that turned Royal Blood into chart-topping heroes in what felt like no time at all. "There's not a lot to say other than get drunk and enjoy yourselves", grins singer-guitarist Dan Steer whose voice blending with that of Jonny Finnis - along with some clever amp trickery also reminiscent of Royal Blood - gives Empire, Gravity and Crazy Horse layers and volume beyond what a three piece would normally be able to achieve. New tracks including "Do You Feel?" hold up to expectation and bode well for things to come while live favourites Thrones and Friendly Fire manage to sound more deafening than ever."It's cold and a school night and you could have stayed in to get laid - so thanks for being here and we'll be seeing you next year", winks Dan before the brain burning grunge of closer Renegade. If Reigning Days are looking to be the loudest trio straight outta Devon since the mighty Muse, they can rest assured that, based on form like this, they're well on course", Amit Sharma
